Two motorcyclists were killed after a truck struck their bike near Maripur Hawksbay in Karachi, police said. The truck driver was arrested at the scene and a case has been registered.
KARACHI: Two motorcyclists were killed on Sunday when a speeding truck hit their motorcycle near Maripur Hawksbay, police said.
Maripur SHO Muhammad Aslam said the crash took place when the truck collided with the bike, throwing both riders onto the road. He said they died at the scene.
After being informed of the incident, rescue teams and police reached the site and shifted the bodies to Civil Hospital Karachi in an Edhi ambulance for medico-legal formalities. The deceased were identified as Cameron, son of Salamat, and Faisal, son of Ilyas. Their relatives later arrived at the hospital and completed the identification process.
Police officials said the motorcyclists were travelling at high speed, but the initial investigation indicated negligence on the part of the truck driver. Police arrested the driver, identified as Imran, son of Allah Jodiyo, at the scene. The truck was taken into custody and moved to Maripur police station for inspection, while a case was registered against the driver and further investigation was launched to determine the exact cause of the crash.
