KARACHI: Work launched by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation on Rashid Minhas Road has disrupted water supply in several parts of Gulshan-e-Iqbal and also led to traffic congestion on a key stretch of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
KMC has begun work to turn Rashid Minhas Road into a model road and, as part of that effort, its Engineering Department is replacing a 24-inch water line between Nipa Chowrangi and Gulshan Chowrangi. The work is being carried out instead of the Karachi Water Corporation, which is ordinarily responsible for replacing water and sewerage lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the replacement work, an 8-inch line was damaged, after which the Water Corporation stopped supply through the 24-inch main. The suspension has affected Gulshan-e-Iqbal Blocks 1, 2, 4, 5 and 13-D, along with nearby localities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The same project has also resulted in the closure of the road from Nipa Chowrangi to Gulshan Chowrangi after work began on the 2,200-ring feeder, causing major inconvenience for commuters. The line replacement is progressing slowly. Water Corporation officials had been informed that the job would be finished within a few days, but it is now estimated that the work could take up to a month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
