Karachi court orders exhumation in Surjani Town woman’s death case

A Karachi court has ordered the exhumation of 18-year-old Misbah in a Surjani Town death case linked to alleged domestic violence. A medical board headed by Police Surgeon Dr Samia Syed will oversee the process and post-mortem.

KARACHI: A court has ordered the exhumation of the body of 18-year-old Misbah, a resident of Surjani Town, in a case linked to alleged violence by her husband.

The order was issued to establish the exact cause of death. The case concerns allegations that the young woman died after being subjected to violence.

Following the court’s directive, Police Surgeon Karachi Dr Samia Syed constituted a special medical board to supervise the exhumation and conduct the post-mortem examination. An official notification issued by the police surgeon said Dr Syed will head the board.

The board also includes Dr Sadaf Haroon of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Dr Muhammad Yaseen from the Police Surgeon’s Office, Additional Police Surgeon Dr Kamran Shaikh, and two assistant mortuary staff members.
