Rescue officials said the weakened veranda roof suddenly gave way, trapping members of a family beneath the debris. Rescue teams were dispatched to the scene and began an operation to pull the victims from the rubble before moving them to a nearby hospital.

The woman who died was identified as Sidra Munir. Rescue 1122 officials said the injured included a 42-year-old woman and Abeerah Munir, 23, and added that both were in critical condition.

Initial reports indicated that the roof was in a severely deteriorated state, which may have led to the collapse. Sources said the family affected by the incident had recently bought the house.

The collapse drew a large number of local residents to the site and left the area in mourning. Authorities were investigating the incident, according to the report.
