A 38-year-old labourer, Muhammad Rasool, was found murdered on a rooftop in Lahore’s Hanjarwal area. Police said his throat had been slit and investigators were examining multiple angles, including personal enmity.
LAHORE: A 38-year-old man was found murdered on the rooftop of a house in Hanjarwal on Wednesday, police said.
According to officials, police were informed through emergency helpline 15 after a blood-stained body was discovered on the roof of a house near Shahenshah Chowk on Niaz Beg Road. Officials said the victim’s throat had been slit.
Hanjarwal SHO Imran Gujjar said police reached the spot after receiving the alert, sealed off the area and gathered forensic evidence from the scene. The body was later moved to a mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
The deceased was identified as Muhammad Rasool, a labourer originally from Charsadda. Police said he had been living in the area with his family for the past few months.
Initial findings suggested that the killing took place on the rooftop where the body was found, according to police. Officials also said the house was locked from the outside when they arrived.
Police said the victim’s wife was reportedly missing from the residence, and investigators were looking into several possible motives. SHO Imran Gujjar said police were examining multiple angles, including personal enmity.
Investigation under way
Authorities have begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing. Police collected evidence from the rooftop and surrounding area as part of the inquiry.
Officials have not announced any arrests in the case in the information provided so far. The post-mortem examination is expected to assist investigators in determining further details about the killing.
The incident took place in the Hanjarwal area near Shahenshah Chowk on Niaz Beg Road, where police continued their inquiry after securing the house and documenting the scene.
