KARACHI: An eight-year-old girl was killed and her mother injured in a road accident on Super Highway near Gadap City, rescue officials said.

The child was identified as Ayesha, daughter of Nadeem, while the injured woman was named as 28-year-old Nazia, wife of Nadeem. Officials said the family was travelling on a motorcycle when Nazia’s shawl became caught in the bike’s chain.

Rescue officials said the entanglement caused both mother and daughter to fall onto the road. Ayesha suffered a severe internal head injury and died, while her mother was hurt and is under treatment.

Edhi volunteers moved the girl’s body to a private hospital near the Super Highway Toll Plaza. After that, the family took the body home, officials said.
