Two women killed in separate attacks in Islamabad

Two women were killed in separate incidents in Islamabad. Police arrested one suspect in Ghori Town, while another accused in E-11/2 remained at large.

ISLAMABAD: Two women were killed in separate incidents in the federal capital, with police arresting one suspect and searching for another.

In Ghori Town, within the limits of Koral Police Station, a retired Federal Police sub-inspector allegedly shot his wife after a domestic dispute, according to police sources. The suspect, identified as Tariq, was said to have argued with his wife frequently. On Monday, police said, another quarrel escalated and he opened fire on her inside their home. Police arrested him at the house and took the weapon into custody. After legal formalities and a postmortem, the woman’s body was handed over to her family.

In the second case, a man identified as Muzammil allegedly killed his young wife with a sharp instrument in flat number 301 of an apartment building in E-11/2, which falls under Shalimar Police Station. Police said the suspect fled after the attack and had not been arrested.

Separate cases were registered in both incidents, while the body of the second victim was also handed over to her family after police action.
